" "HISTORY"
Children’s Charities of Fort Worth was formed in 1989 as a 501(c)(3) organization by a group of local business people that decided to put their holiday entertainment money together and create one BIG, black tie event. With this initial idea, it was agreed that each guest bring a toy for an underprivileged child in Tarrrant County as admission to the party. This holiday party became the annual Margarita Ball! Children's Charities of Fort Worth doesn't quit giving after Christmas! Each year, we donate to Tarrant County outreach programs by providing families with food, utilities, fans, window screens, medication and immunization in public schools, dental care, school supplies, and much more. Since 1989 Children’s Charities of Fort Worth has given over 38,000 toys to such groups as John Peter Smith Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, Headstart Programs of Fort Worth, and Child Protective Services of Fort Worth. We have accomplished this task with the assistance and generosity of the many corporations, companies and concerned individuals who give back to our communities a little of the success they have accomplished in their own corporate and personal lives. In addition, Children's Charities of Fort Worth also known as The Fort Worth Margarita Society sponsors the Margarita Charity Ball and other events. Each year we underwrite the cost of a Charity Ball to collect the toys. The black tie affair is held at the Tarrant County Convention Center. Each attendee brings a high-quality unwrapped toy (the price of admission) which is later distributed to the disadvantaged children. It is a wonderment to see a woman in a formal gown wheeling in a bicycle or gentlemen with tux tails and a baseball glove. The day after the Margarita Charity Ball, these toys are distributed to the general disadvantaged children based on their economic needs. In most cases, these toys given by Children's Charities are the only gifts these children receive for Christmas. Your financial contributions as a sponsoring corporation or individual and/or a donation of a silent auction item will go a long way to guarantee our tradition and success of providing disadvantaged Tarrant County children with gifts at Christmas. When you can see the excitement in the children's eyes and the thankfulness in their parents' face, you know how important that is! Children's Charities of Fort Worth is a non-profit organization that is primarily funded by our membership contributions, our friends and volunteers that host and attend our fundraising events, corporate sponsorships and the Margarita Ball. Your financial contributions as a sponsoring corporation or individual and/or a donation of a silent auction item will go a long way to guarantee our tradition and success of providing disadvantaged Tarrant County children with gifts at Christmas and throughout the year. Your contributions really do make a difference!
